Bankura Goenka Vidyayatan is one of the biggest educational institutions in Bankura town. It is situated at Kuchkuchia near Hareswarmela in Bankura. It is a govt-sponsored boys Higher secondary school with Bengali as the medium of instruction. Ours is one of the four Goenka schools set up in Bankura district by a great Gandhian social worker Mohanlal Goenka. The school was founded in 1945. The motto of this school is 'tomoso ma jyotirgomoya' (Take us into light from darkness) and we chant this Sanskrit shloka in our Assembly prayer everyday. A second institution other than ours will probably be never found elsewhere where the 'Bhagbatgita' has been inscribed on marble plates on the wall of hall room and the 'Ramcharitmanas' inscribed on the long corridor. The school is affiliated to WBBSE for Madhyamik section and WBCHSE for HS section. Besides a big library, a multi Gym and basic well equipped laboratories namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography, we have a computer laboratory and a smart class room where latest technology is used to impart education. Students can learn Construction or IT&ITs from Class IX alongwith their normal course of study. Computer classes are held for all students from Class V. The academic performance of the students is all along very good. The percentage of success in both MP and HS examinations is more than 90. The toppers of 2020 of this school scored 676 in MP and 476 in HS. The performance of the students in co-curricular activities is also commendable. They take part in various cultural activities and participate in different competitions like sit and draw, quiz, recitation, extempore speech, science exhibitions, and games and sports. Thus the school focuses on man making education where the students imbibe not only the knowledge of different subjects but also the moral values of life.
