The year was 1965. I was admitted into class 6 at daulatpur high school. The school looked like an abandoned place at that time. There were five small dilapidated classrooms. There was a separate common room for the girls. There was a small room for the teachers and an even smaller room for the headmaster and the Clerk. There were 7-8 teachers, a non teaching staff and a peon. But the teachers were so dedicated and committed that they overcome all the disadvantages and imparted knowledge to the pupils. All the respected teachers truly guardians of each student.
The teachers treated all of us just like their son or daughter. It is because of their teaching and blessings that I have been able to hold an important post in the finance department of West Bengal government in my professional life. That's why even today whenever I come across the teachers on the way a i get off the cycle in a mark of respect to them.
Even after so many years I still vividly remember that days when we were made to stand outside the classroom or hold ears with our hands or kneel down as punishment for failing to give answers to questions or for breaking a rule. Those punishment, mixed with affection, were the pillars of success. That's why I would like to end this reminiscence with a popular quote -
"শাসন করা তার ই সাজে সোহাগ করে যে"
(One who showers love has the authority to punish).

In the year 1995 I was admitted into class 5 at daulatpur High school. The infrastructure of the institution was not as good as it is today. The floor in some of the classrooms was not concrete. Some of the classrooms did not have electric supply.steel we attendant classes in respective of rain , storm or extreme heat of summer.
Both the teachers and the students disregarded all the obstacles and engaged themselves in this great endeavour.
The then Headmaster of the school late Muktinath Mukherjee was not only an efficient teacher but also a strict and skillful administrator. He was immensely respected by all.
I was very energetic and reckless but was quite good at studies. That is why all the honorable teachers knew and adored me.the lessons that I learnt at daulatpur high school are like the backbone of my life story and stood me in good stead in future struggles. Having passed the higher secondary examination in 2002 ,I left for Kolkata for higher studies. At present I am an assistant teacher at hialdaha junior High school. I sincerely convey my heartfelt gratitude to all those teachers who have had crucial role in shaping my life.
