Smt. Kamalpani Roychowdhury, Ex-Principal of Sabitri Devi Maha Vidyalaya and alumnus of Barisha Girls' High School (Batch of 1953) stood first in the district, South 24 Parganas in the Matriculation Examination. She has donated ₹ 2.5 Lakhs to the school in the memory of the first Headmistress of the school, Smt. Nandarani Dhar.
