Greetings from the Teacher-in-Charge of Nawabganj Balika Vidyalaya, a premier educational institution of Ichapur, North 24 Parganas. Nawabganj Balika Vidyalaya is an outcome of educational movement initiated in the Pre-Independence era by the intellectuals and liberal thinkers of Nawabganj, a historical township bearing a rich heritage and legacy of education. The founders' commitment to the cause of women education was not merely philanthropic but was integral to their idea of nation building. As a result, today Nawabganj Balika Vidyalaya has evolved into the torch-bearer of women education in the locality. In the present age the traditional rigid boundaries of disciplines are removed and the streams are divided into smaller units that merged together. The school authority acted as seers and introduced the interdisciplinary multipurpose educational system in the remote past. Teaching-learning is at the core of the institutional ethos. We follow a student-centric approach. Teachers are motivated as empowered agents to bring holistic change in pupils. The classroom is looked upon as a site of engaged learning, reflective action and participatory pedagogy. We have ICT-enabled classrooms, state of the art seminar hall, well-equipped laboratories, a modern multi-gym, a well-stocked library, a splush green playground, a beautiful pond and a hygienic MDM kitchen to ensure total development of our students. Vivek Disha, an ICT-based network of learning programme by Ramkrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Belur is introduced for holistic development of girls coming from different socio-economic status. The untiring effort of the teachers and non-teaching staff and enthusiasm of the meritorious students have catapulted the institution to the top rank in the locality. We have not only proved ourselves in academics but also in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. A look at the brilliant results in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations as well as the number of scholarship won at state and national level , the awards won at exhibitions, seminars, cultural competitions and sports bears testimony to the rich tapestry that characterized Nawabganj Balika Vidyalaya. We also take pride in being an environmentally conscious institution. We have been taking several initiatives to reduce carbon footprint and will continue to do so to turn our campus a green one. As the HOI I am commited towards achieving excellence in all our activities by providing accessible leadership for an efficient management system. I also strive to enhance the infrastructural facilities of the school. Following the footsteps of our respected HOIs I aspire to make Nawabganj Balika Vidyalaya a place for unceasing quest of the insatiably curious students.
