The name one can trust in the field education is Shyampur High school, situated in the village Shyampur, post office- Parshyampur in Pursurah block under Arambagh sub division in the district Hooghly. The school was recognised by the senate university of Calcutta on 2nd January 1948. Prior of that a minor school(I-VI) was established on the land donated by some local benevolent persons on 2nd January 1946. Later with the help of some socially conscious persons interested in education as well as some freedom fighter in the locality the school came into being oned was recognised. Subsequently the school was upgraded to higher secondary level (class XI) with arts stream in the year 1963. Science and commerce streams were added to this in the next year. The stream Higher secondary (class XI) was abolished and madhyamik/secondary stream under WBBSE was introduced in 1976. The school was upgraded to Higher secondary level with Science, Arts and commerce streams in 1999. The course is successfully running along with 19 subjects including the subjects automotive and information technology under NSQF since 2013. To facilitate the study of lab based subject like physics ,chemistry ,biology ,geography, computer science, computer application, automotive and information technology at 8 well equipped laboratories are there in the school. Side by side with the general stream, vocational stream with the trade of AC refrigeration and computer was introduced in 2006. For the well being of the students NCC was introduced in 2008. Introduction of ICT is also another feather added to the academic crown of the school. Last not the least is there an untiring effort on the part of 76 teaching including regular, para teacher, contractual and part time teachers and non-teaching employees to facilitate education in the heart of more than 2000 students each session for the last two decades resulted in securing 9th position in MP and 13th in the HS exam. With firm determination the school is going to activate its goal not to leave any citizen of the future out of school.
