Our aim is to take the students from an ignorant state of darkness into the path of light, truth, honesty, and self-realization. I am honoured and feel privileged to be the Headmaster of Barabendya Vivekananda High School, where there are the fruitful endeavours from all ends to create a supportive and inclusive teaching-learning environment. I would like to begin by asserting a vote of thanks to the students of our school, their parents, managing committee, various administrative bodies as well as the Education Department of West Bengal State Government, for their cooperation and support in our endeavour to spread the light of education in such a remote, backward place mainly inhabited by poor, scheduled-class and scheduled-tribes people. It is a matter of utmost pride to me as well as all the faculty members and authorities related to the school that our students, year on year show their academic excellence in the secondary examination by passing with flying colours. In spite of the average student-strength, I think our Institution has all the potentialities to be upgraded into a Higher Secondary School immediately.

However, a few infrastructural as well economical constraints dishearten me and my staff, which I would like to convey. Firstly, the school is quite close to a forest; thus, the students and the teachers are wary of an unfortunate encounter with the elephants, which wreak havoc in the nearby area. Secondly, the absence of public transport mediums to and fro from the school to nearby villages, forces our students to endure much hardship to attend classes regularly. Thirdly, we have observed that many students are forced to discontinue their studies after class X; as after passing out from this school, they have to join a new one for their higher secondary education, which is a hurdle many fail to cross. I humbly appeal to the relevant authorities to upgrade the school to higher secondary, keeping in mind the socio-economic condition of the local people. Fourthly, the school arduously strives to provide the students a commendable quality of food, under the Government's Mid-day Meal scheme, but sadly there is not any room or shaded area where the students can have their food in peace. For which they have to eat in the open space where many a days the meal is ruined by the scorching sun or the untimely rains. Fifthly, equipments, and infrastructures to let the students enjoy a few indoor games and take the facility of a gymnasium are some of the major needs felt by me as well as the teachers. Lastly, a Night Guard and a Sweeper are essential for us to protect and maintain the properties of our institution.

We are confident that with the positive support of the Government and the blessings of Thakur, Maa, and Swamiji, we will definitely overcome all these hurdles and will proceed towards the path of light and progress.
