From the Head Of Institution Desk

Path of creation is not always plain and smooth. Many unknown facts lie behind it and these are not always written in the pages of history. Only a creator knows it and  some  selfless persons stretch their benevolent hands to fulfil his mission, But every coin has two sides. There are some other persons in society who create obstructions and get envious of another's prosperity. But creation cannot stop. That is why Gangadharpur Village is now a remarkable name in the map of Howrah district.

Sri Santosh Kumar Das, an educationist, a social organizer, in later life a political personality - MLA, a member of the Senate of C.U., the recipient of "Hall Of Fame" honour by The Telegraph, came forward to eradicate the darkness of ignorance, illiteracy of Gangadharpur Village. He created an Education Hub comprising of a Primary School, a Co-Ed H.S. School, a Girls' H.S. School, a General Collage, D.El.Ed, B.Ed, and M.Ed Collage. He also set up a Health Centre, an Eye hospital and a Football Academy. We pay our respect and homage to this legendary person for his unprecedented contribution in the society especially in the field of education.

Sri Santosh Kumar Das felt the need of female education and thought of setting up a Girls' High School. For this he had to face many obstacle but his indomitable energy and spirit predominant. Ultimately Gangadharpur Balika Vidyamandir was established in 1969. It is now a reputed Girls' H.S. School (Multipurpose) with science stream at the centre of Panchla Block. It has been imparting female education sincerely in the locality since its inception. About 900 girl students are taking education regularly in a very peaceful and disciplined atmosphere.

vocational courses also are introduced at VIII+ and X+ level. This vocational education attracts a large section of students and they are acquiring different skills and aptitudes which help them to get a better scope for self-employment.

It was an auspicious moment for this institution as on 8th February 2018 it reached the threshold of the 50th year. A great carnival was arranged with pomp and grandeur.thousands of students of Education hub, Teachers, Professors, Common people and dignitaries from differnt fields of education participated in this celebration.

Throughout the year various programmes are arranged - seminar, debate, quize, games and sports, Dol Utsab,Rabindra and Nazrul Jayanti, Sharadiya Utsab, cultural competitions, excursions etc. Teaching and non-teaching staff and students take active part in these programmes.

Most of the students come from SC, ST , Backward class and Minority families. But they never lag behind  in any activity. I think this Girls' School is playing its vital role for the true development of the locality by spreading female education which is the crying need of the country.
