
History of St.Joseph’s Girls’ Primary School Kurseong.
St.Joseph’s Girls’ Primary School had a humble beginning at St.Margaret’s Home by Daughters of the Cross sisters in the year 1903.Sr.Mary Dominic fc, the Superior of St.Helen’s convent had started the school with few students. The school was sifted to St.paul parish due to the increasing number of students till the year 1937.when the St,Joseph’s Girls’ high school building was ready,school was sifted again to the new building in 1938.Both primary section and middle school was held together .The headmistress Sr.Mary Martha fc took much trouble to raise the school by getting recognition in the year 1944 by the west Bengal Board of secondary Education. As the School was upgrading every year and number of students were growing,class rooms were insufficient in the high school building, so the Superior Sr.Dolores Mary fc and Sr .Evavna fc purchased a land in upper Dumaram Busty for the purpose of water sources and then Built a new School Building for St.Joseph’s Girls’ Primary School. Much later ,when Sr.Teresa yonzon fc was headmistress of St.Joseph’s girls’ High School, Primary section was sifted in the year 1971.Sr.Viviana fc was First In-charge of the primary section for a Short period of time and she was succeded by Sr.Josephine Kullu fc.With the guidance of Sr.Teresa yonzon, Sr.Josephine kullu and a group of dedicated teachers ,St.Joseph’s Girls’ Primary School flourished and the number students increased every year.
