Some people and their families affected by the terrible flood of 1968 coming from the bank of Teesta made their habitation in such a place which was then also sandy.
The nearest schools of this place are at least 4 km away. As a result, local habitants on 12th Jan, 1972 on the birthday of Swami Vivekananda decided in a meeting that they have to build a school.
The school was started in 1972 on Maynaguri Road Durgabari Premises due to the tireless efforts of Late Haralal Barai, Mahendranath Sen, Mahabir Ram Yadab. After that Tustalal Roy, Shambhunath Biswas, Shukchand Barai also gave their selfless efforts to run the school.
After that with many people's help and donation four classrooms were built with bamboo and Tin at the place of present school. Reading/ Teaching of 4 classes started on this school on 14th Jan, 1973.The local educated youth Mr. Patit Paban Mandal joined as the Headmaster. Mr. Lalit Kumar Biswas, Mr Dharma Narayan Sarkar, and Sunil Kumar Sarkar joined as the assistant teachers. Mr Anil kumar Sarkar and Mr Nilkamal Biswas also joined as Clerk and Peon respectively but in complete voluntary work.
There we're many obstacles in the way of running this school. After overcoming those obstacles the school got Government Approval in the month of December, 1988 and it was effected from 1st Jan, 1986.
Then the school was upgraded upto Secondary in 2000 and Higher Secondary in 2014. Many students take admission in this school from the poor families. Still in terms of overall result the school holds a better place in Maynaguri Block. In higher secondary section History, Geography, Political Science, Education and Sanskrit are the subjects taught in the school.
