History

In the river bed of Jarda the present school in the name of 'MAYNAGURI MADHYA BANGLA VIDYALAYA' was setup in 1870 though the actual foundation date of the school remains unknown.

                                    In 1895 the school was converted into "MIDDLE ENGLISH SCHOOL" to teach up-to Class VI.Next the School affiliated to teach up to Class VIII and in 1948 it got permission to teach up to Class X(Memo No. S/5959/pro 1575/17-2-1948) and was renamed as Maynaguri High School.Till 1948 it was a co-ed school.Since the setting up of Maynaguri Girls' High School on 15th August 1948,only boys have been reading in the school.The institution got its permission to teach class XI in 1959(Memo No.-5480/G/dt.8-4-1959) and got recognition to teach class XII in 1976(Memo No.-3327/reg 8776/dt.8-7-76).
