History

Eagerness for spreading the importance and awareness of girls’ education in the nearby region initiated the concept of building a girls school by some erudite people of Belakoba. Belakoba Girls' High School started its way to become a renowned educational institution in Jalpaiguri district from 9th March,1960 with the help, influence and  hard work of local education interested persons, Members of Managing Committees, All staffs of this Institution and of course the students. Starting as a senior basic school, it was gradually upgraded to Junior high (1969), High (1979) and Higher Secondary (1999) school as well. Recent student strength is 1679 and there are 21 regular teachers in position, 5 parateachers, 3 guest teachers, 2 vocational teachers, 1 librarian and 4 non teaching staffs in this school. Arts stream with vocational courses has been taught here. The school has its strong presence not only in academic, but also in sports, co curricular activities and discipline.
