History

Saktigarh Bidyapith (H.S) was establised on 5th. January, 1953by Saktigarh Rehabilitation Development Committee under the leadership of Dr. Gouri Shankar Deb, Sri Balaram Saha, Sri Bhola Mukharjee, Sri Amritalal Muukharjee and many other prominent figures of Saktigarh Colony. It has over sixty seven years of educational journey to its name. Basically establised with the aim of providing refugee students qualify education in the wake of Independence and partition. The school has since then emerged as a premier educational institute in Saktigarh and adjecent area of Siliguri. Initially it was a co-educational school.

It is in the District of Jalpaiguri under Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Ward No- 31. It is a Govt. Sponsored Higher Secondary School has glorious part. A large number of successful students are established in their life. Though school was establised in 1953 with Sixteen students at the residence of Late Tarini Mohan Das as a juniour high school and upgraded high school in 19864 after the visit of Smt. Padmaja Naidu, the then Governor, Govt. of West Bengal. The school was converted to Higher Secondary in 1967 with the introduction of three streams of science, commerce and humanities. However, the school building has permanently shifted to its present land with a temparory structure in 1970, a separate girls school, Saktigarh Balika Vidyalaya was emerged with the girls students from V-VIII of Saktigarh Bidyapith. Classes were conductial in the Morning Session in the premises of Saktigarh Bidyapith upto 1979.
