                                                                                                      BRIEF HISTOTY

                      Tufanganj Vivekananda Vidyalaya ( H.S ) is one of the oldest and largest higher secondary school in Tufanganj sub division of Cooch Behar district.Until 1963 there was only one high school in Tufanganj which is Tufanganj Nripendra Narayan Memorial high school.So students from different parts of Tufanganj sub division were come in that school for their studies.Due to the pressure of the students of that school there was need to open another school in the sub division.In that situation  the school started its academic journey in 1964 at Tufanganj Town Primary School in the morning session. According to the Govt. rules  without its own place the school could not taken  financial grants. In this situation respected late  Sri Nanda Kr. Sarkar of Kamatfulbari  had donated land for the school . And the school shifted to the new place. The then students & the members of  Kamatfulbari Yuba sangha  came to develop the school and constructed  the  classroom by bamboo fencing with tin shed. After that  by the financial grant of Luthern world serving  new  pucca class rooms were constructed.In 1969 the school became  a Madhyamic  school. After some time with the financial grants the new class rooms, the staff common room & Headmaster’s room were constructed. 1995 the school become the Higher Seconday School including both Science and arts stream.With the financial asistence of Sarba Shikhya Mission, grant from MLA & M.P, Indian  and State Sports & Games Department, West Bengal backward Class Department, Zilla Parishad,Cooch Behar,Nakkatigach Gram Panchayet etc school gradually develop its infrastructural facilities.
