History

1946. During the reign of the last Maharaja Jagaddipendra Narayan of Kochbihar, Kalpani Mowamari Jr. Basic School was established under the name of Middle English School.  The influence of the Bengal Renaissance also affected the then state of Kochbihar.  At that time, the main reason for the establishment of the school was the initiative of two influential people of Kalpani and Mowamari villages who were influenced by the social movement of Roy Saheb Tagore Panchanan, a social reformer of Kochbihar state.  3 bighas and a total of 6 bighas of land were donated to the school by two education interested people from two different communities.  The school was later renamed in honor of their initiative.

Maharaja Jagaddipendra Narayan established a separate education department during his tenure.  Shri Satish Chandra Roy was the first Education Minister of that Education Department.  Education Minister Shri Satish Chandra Roy adopted a five-year plan to spread modern education in the state of Kochbihar.  As part of the plan, Kochbihar conducted a survey in the state, collecting the views of more than 5,000 people and setting up these schools.  The present school is one of the 555 schools in the state of Kochbihar at that time.  After the annexation of Kochbihar state and later becoming a district in the state of West Bengal, this school is known as Kalapani Mowamari Jr. Basic School as a Jr. Basic Schooli in Coochbehar District.
