HISTORY

  Adarsha High School is located in Cob-1, Cooch Behar. It is a State Board School with a team of 21 dedicated, professional and talented faculties, which are here to ensure that the children get the set of strong values which shape their life in future. During the period 1960 to 70 and before there was no school in this remote area. The whole area was under darkness without the light of education. The people who were interested in education were compelled to send their children either Dewanhat or Cooch Behar for getting education. Some wise people interested in education felt it necessary to build a school in this locality to spread the light of education in this remote village. Some of the dignified persons were Kedarnath Marak, Nishi Kanta Taju, Uma Nath Barman, Jatindra Sangma, Satish Chandra Paul, Nikhil Chandra Nandi, Gyanendra Mohan Hui, Nibaran Chandra Deb. They played a vital role to build the school.With the financial assistace of Rev.O. Hodney Shaheb, Chairman of Cooch Behar Swigish Mission and under the supervision of Mangal Chandra Sarkar some 7 class rooms and official rooms were built for smooth conduct of classes.After that a Managing Committee was formed to conduct the management of the school. The founder president of the M.C. was Kedar Nath Marak and Uma Nath Barman was the founder  secretary. Gyanendra Chandra Nag was appointed as the founder H.M. of the school. The school’s primary medium of instructions is Bengali. The school runs classes from V to XII to provide education to students. We are very proud to have an excellent Model Hostel which is actually established for Adibashi students named as Adibashi Ashram Hostel where 20 boarders from different parts of the state stay here for getting education. We have also vocational streams for VIII+ level where we have 3 (three) trades – 1. Tailoring, 2. E.H.M.W., 3. 2/3 M.W. . Though the school was established in 1968, it got Govt. Recognition as V-VI Jr. High School vide Memo. No. – 34/Jr-Dt-14.01.70. After that the school got Govt. Recognition as (V-VIII) 4 CLASS Jr. High School in the year vide Memo. No.- 633/Jr-Dt-21.08.74. The school has been upgraded as High School (V-X) class with co-education in the year vide Memo .No.- S/121-Dt-12.02.82. Finally we are very proud to say that our school has been upgraded to H.S. level in the year 2013 vide Memo .No.- DS(A) SD/0138/RECOG/2013 Dt-20.06.2013.
