In order to provide basic education to the childen of Bara Gopalpur and it's surrandings. Some well-wishers of the society cholk out a plan in the month of June, 1968 for establishing a school and then in the month of August a commitee had been formed to make their plan successful. Sri Suresh ch. Karjee, Sri Jatindranath Karjee and Sri Rathindranath Karjee collaborately donated 4 acres of land and Sri Mahesh Chandra Roy Kayet donated 11 thousand and 6 hundred rupees for building up the school. There after, a meeting was held regarding the name of the school. Sri Mahesh Chandra Roy Kayet, a member of the committee proposed a name ''DALANATH HIGH SCHOOL'' and the committee agreed with time. More issues were also there, but after solving all the issues by the committee, ultimately on 26th october, 1968 at the south-western corner of the donated land, the work of building up a nwe school sterted. On 10th January, 1969, Sri Rakhal Dasgupta (D.I.) and Sri Upendranath Barman ( Minister of undivided Bangal) inagurated this school.
In the month of March, 1970, the school committee applied for the affilation of the school from West Bengal Government and in the month of June of that same year an inspection order from the government was received. Due to this order, 17th August, 1970 Sri Amiya Kumar Pakrashi ( A.D.I.) inspected the school and the process for affliation began to progress.
Finally in 1971, "Dalanath High School" was recognised as 4 class Junior High School vide Memo No.56/Jr. dt. 11.02.1972 and then in 1984 the school was upgraded to High School, vide Memo No. S/320 dt. 16.04.1984. In the year 2005, the school was again upgraded to Higher Secondary level, vide Memo No. DS/(A)SD/242/Recog/05 dt. 27.09.2005.
