History

Cooch Behar Town High School is located in the eastern part of Cooch Behar Township. It was Established in 1957. Initially the school was recognised as 4 class Jr. High school in 1959 by DPI of West Bengal. Next year it came under Grant-in-Aid scheme in 1960. The school was upgraded to X – class High school in the year of 1962 by the Board of secondary Education, West Bengal (Memo No: 2414/S dated 08.02.1962). Again it came under Grant –in-Aid (salary Deficit ) scheme in 1964-1965 . After a few years the school was again upgraded to a XII – class H.S. School in the year of 1998 by the west Bengal council of H.S Education.
