A girls school was established in the name of Sunity Devi, the queen of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur. Then Sunity Academy was known as Sunity College. With only four teachers the institution started in 1881.

In 1929 one student gave the Matriculation Examination, passing out with laurels in the first division. After the period the school was improved in H.S. and flourished. With days Sunity Academy has turned out ‘blessed’ among prosperity… One of the esteemed institutions of girl education… Ranking top till date.
