Our History:

Mathabhanga High School is one of the most heritage schools of the district of Coochbehar and also of West Bengal. This institution is the witness of many historical accounts. It was established in 1890 during the reign of great koch king Maharaja Nripendra Narayan (1863 - 1899) who was one of the noblest kings of koch dynasty. In this very year Calcutta University permitted it for Matriculation Examination for the first time. In course of time that small red bricked building becomes today's Mathabhanga High School - the symbol of pride and modesty, commitment and dedication.

However its hoary tradition is still crystal clean. It produces many eminent students who left their autograph in different fields of work in different countries. Strict administrator, kind doctor, efficient engineer, renowned scientist, research scholars make our school proud. Not only for the education of boys, this school also plays an important role in the education of girl child.

In game and Sports the name of this school is still imprinted in golden words. From district level to state level many students acquire fame. Football, Cricket, Voly and other games are played in the schools homeground - the 'B' team ground. Annual sports, Annual cultural programme are another feathers of the beautiful crown of Mathabhanga High School. But the most beautiful and precious jewel of this crown in Mandakranta, the school magazine.

The most important treasure of this school is the student-teacher relationship. Even today both the teachers and students are iron-determinded to keep thier treasure like a chalice.
