Lake a lamp illuminating everything around it, Islampur High School is enlightening lives of thousands every day. The spark to spread education in this previously, no-descript place was produced by some social workers like Paramanand Singh, Shisha Ch. Ghosh, Pran Krishna Chaudhury. They responded positively to the long standing demand for school in the area and the journey of the school began in the mid twentieth century when Islampur Block was in the jurisdiction of Purnia District of Bihar . The gem of the society C.M.Yusuf contributed his own Land and labour to set up this Institution which in course of time has developed into the subject of glory to the residents of Islampur. Now Islampur High School carving a niche for itself in the realm of education in the State has emerged as one of the premier institution of Uttar Dinajpur District.

The former Headmaster of the School Sri Prem Behari Thakur (M.A English Patna University) was the man who lent his invaluable experience and expertise to help the institution scale the height of success with the progress of the students.

Now the institution which was started with five Teachers and Twenty One students has become the dream school of every student in Islampur Sub-Division.
