The time was 1935, when some local zamindars of Harirampur and some educated people were sowing the seeds of hope in the heart of Harirampur with the idea of building a school that would transform into a huge tree in the future and provide shade to all irrespective of caste or creed.
The main builders of the school were some educated people and zamindars who were inspired by the then undivided district governor of Dinajpur and eminent apprentice Mr. Barrage who did a great job in building the school. The school was established on January 8, 1938 after overcoming various obstacles and difficulties.
Prior to January 8, 1938, the school was known as “Harirampur Middle English School”. It is located on the land of Bahin Zamindar in the south-west of Harirampur Hatkhola, now the place where s.c, s.t hostel, Harirampur Vivekananda Vidyalaya Bhavan and Ramakrishna Mission Ashram are located.
In the same year, i.e in 1938, the zamindar of Dhanaipur, late Saidul Rahaman Chowdhury and Habibur Rahaman Chowdhury and the zamindar of shirshi village, late Kashiruddin Chowdhury respectively donated rupees1500 and land each, in memory of their fathers Abdus Shovan Dewan Mohammad, and according to this name the school is renamed as "Harirampur Abdus Shovan Dewan Mohammad High School" which is also known as"Harirampur A.S.D.M High School (H.S), local people also called this as "Harirampur High School".
The school was first granted recognition as xth class school by the university of Calcutta in January 1, 1941.Since then the school has maintained its upgradation over time.Step by step it was first upgraded from M.E school to H.S level in the years 1942, 1965 and 1976 respectively.
After the introduction of three important disciplines such as Arts, Science and Commerce in 1976, all opportunities for students to study with all of these have also become open.
To create creativity in the students, the Vocational Training Center, approved by the West Bengal Vocational and Technical Council, was started in 2006 to provide education to students from 8th to 12th class.
