We, the teachers of Sukdevpur F.P. School, are offering this presentation about the very interesting past-stories of our school establishment. We are very much thankful to late Makhan Chandra Sarkar, foremore Head Teacher of this school and son of the soil . we are grateful to all elder persons of sukdevpur, haripur and jaypur villages for presenting this reality. When the school was established at first, our motherland was ruling by the British Govt.. It was the day of 2nd may 1928, the foundation day of our school. At that time, very few people were living in sukdevpur and nearby villages. The "SCHOOL" was named "PATHSHALA" at that time. This was the only school situated at the centre of sukdevpur, haripur and jaydevpur villages-in the field of south-west, corner of "BALUCHAR KUMBH-POND" in the sukdevpur mouza. The school was at first started with small huts and bamboo-made rooms. These weak-rooms were broken-up after some days and the school remained closed for few days. The first Head Teacher of the school was Sri Balaram Sarkar, the second Head Teacher was late Nataram Sarkar of the same village. At that time to big banian trees were there in Baluchar field and many people used to gather in the field to celebrate, "Astaprahar", "Namkirtan Anusthan", of lord Krishna in the month of Baishakh in bengali calender. There was no school at "Baluchar field" at that time. There was a small high land at that place. A small Pathshala was running at that time in a small hut in "Majhpara" of jaydevpur village. At the same time a small Pathshala was running in Malipara of sukdevpur village. The Head Teacher of that Pathshala Balaram Sarkar. He was devoted to God, "Lord Krishna" and made a "Radha Govinda" temple in his own house. He was also to serve the common people of sukdevpur and nearby villages. It is our own imagination that for the missmanagement of the reach person of those villages the " Baluchar Pathshala" was divided later in two Pathshalas, that was "Sukdevpur Malipara Pathshala" and "Jaydevpur Brahamatala Pathshala". The poor people of this villeges were not very much interested in education at that time. The British Govt. was not also interested to establish schools in the remote villages at that time. So the schools were began to interrupted regularly by many reasons. Late Sri Pravat Pandey and Mr. Panchanan Sarkar were the two teachers of sukdevpur & jaydevpur primary schools. They were very much interested to established the schools in their villeges aginst the British rule at that time. But the British rulers forcely stopped the schools to stop our freedom-fighters. The educated people of these villages began to continue their education in their own houses. In 1942, the second World war began and the people of whole world had to face a furious situation at that time. In our country the British Rulers tried their whole forces to stop our freedom fighters. Except that the Hindu-Muslim dividation by the British began to start. So in those years of 1942 to 1946 the violent situation badly efected the student of our villages to continue their studies. In the year 1942 to 1946 the people of our motherland were smelling our freedom and the great education lover of Sukdevpur village Late Haramohan Roy started the Sukdevpur Primary School at the "Jamindar House" at west corner of Dhumgangi Hatkhola. The Headteacher late Mr. Suresh Pandey and the Asstt. Teacher was late Dhanyaram Sarkar one of the successful student at that time was Sri Chittaranjan Roy, Ex. Secratary, Department of Panchayet. In 1947 when our Motherland became free from British, The Sukdevpur Primary School was re-established in the present place in a small hut of bamboo made walls. In the year 1948 the school had started permanently. The great educated person of the village late Sri Haramohan Roy made the school rooms with his won cost and in the field of his won donated land. He also kooked after the management of the school. The Headteacher was late Sudhir Sarkar and the Asstt. Teacher late Nidhiram Roy and Dhanyaram Sarkar of Jaydevpur village were the teachers of this school. Late sri Makhan Chandra Sarkar, Lilapada Sarkar, Manomoyee Roy, Nagen Roy, Upen Debsingha, Gopal Sarkar were the successful students at that time like others.A Govt. employee of the union board of farmar-observer caled "Amin" was working at the agriculture based village Sukdevpur. He was Girindra Nath Barma by name and he worked a lot to develop the Sukdevpur Primary School. He was lived in the house of education lover, Late Haramohan Roy and helped the school by collecting money and performed as guest teacher to teach Class-IV and Class-V without taking money. In year 1951 late Haramohan Roy stated a junior high school upto Class-VI in the building of Sukdevpur Primary School. The Headteacher of that junior high school was Jaduram Ojha. In the Year 1965 the junior high school converted to Sukdevpur S.C. High School. In the year 1968 the Sukdevpur F.P School was totally swept away by devastating flood. But the school was continue at the house of Sukdevpur S.C. High School in the morning shift. After the retairment of late Jaduram babu, late Nidhiram Roy took the charge of the school. In 1971 our neighbour country Bangladesh accqured freedom and lot of refujees came from Bangladesh to stay. So no. of students of Sukdevpur F.P. School had galloping increased. In 1989 "Luthern World Services" helped the school by making heartiestly and finestly four classroom and one office room by donation. In the year 1994 the numbers of students had increased rapidly with the help of "Sakharata Avizan". In the year 1999 Mr Jayanta Kumar Chakravorty, the present Headteacher of the school had joined at that time total number of teachers were five and the total number of students were near about 700.From the year 1999 the Dakshin Dinajpur Zilla Parishad, DPSC scantioned a lot of money to make a big double storied building for the school. After that the number of students had increased gradually. With the help of present Headteacher, Village Education Committee, Mother Teacher Association, non Govt. organization, Grampanchayet and local villagers a lot of social activites has been done like blood donation camp, social sanitation, mothers and childs health checkup camp, matri mangal and shishu utasab, social and cultural fuction had been performed. In the year 2002 and 2003 MIC of West Bengal Govt. innaugrated a new building in the name of the land doner "Haramohan Roy Smriti Bhavan". At the same time a child library innaugrated "Upendra Nath Roy Smriti Shishu Granthagar". A big fair with several stall cultural function organized by school during seven days to observe "PLATINUM JUBLIEE YEAR" with the help of villagers from the conception of participatory planning. A souvinir has been published "PRATYAY" by name.We are very much proud at present for our great school. We think our next generation also will carry the flag of progress on their own shoulder performing activites and programmes from time to time. We are also thankful to God to became a part of the school and we wish all the best of success of the school for its' future-endeavors.Source: "PRATYAY", Souvenir, Platinum Jubliee Year 2003 of Sukdevpur F.P School |
