History

Patiram Vivekananda Girls' High School is one of the renowned girls' schools in   erstwhile West Dinajpur district of West Bengal. It is the only girls' school  in between Balurghat and Gangarampur.The school was the brainchild of some veterans of the locality of Patiram. The chronology of the school is like this:

The school got its first recognition with effect from 01.01.1966.  The foundation date of  the school was 5th January 1966 and was established as a  VIII - class junior high school housed in the morning shift of Patiram High School. The founder headmistress was Smt. Manika Chakraborty and  the

other teachers were Smt. Arghya Sarkar, Smt. Anjali Das and Smt. Reba Banerjee.

In 1972 the school got its first affiliation and was  shifted to its own house  at Kumarganj Road side. The structure was made of corrogate tin purchased on auction of  the make shift  police camp made during Bangladesh war.

The school was upgraded to X- class secondary school  with effect from 01.01.1970 and got the provisional recognition for H.S. General Stream Course with effect from 2005-2006 academic year.
