History

           Tapan High School  was established in 1942 & since then it has retained its glorious level of teaching-learning process. Latter it got metamorphosed into Government sponsored Institution. Because of being situated on the southern bank of historically famous Lake of Tapan Block (Tapan Dighi), the environment has become extremely congenial to build up the educational atmosphere in the campus of this institution & there are very few institutions in the district of Dakshin Dinajpur which have such campuses with greeneries, wide  & spacious compounds & scenic beauties that Tapan High School has. It is a unique higher secondary School that caters mostly to the students of the peripheries of Dakshin Dinajpur. Girls & boys from far-flung areas & from backward strata of the district come every year to get their names enrolled with this august institution to get themselves enriched with true knowledge & education. Science & Commerce streams were opened in the year 1976 besides Arts stream & it possesses highly equipped laboratories of Physics, Chemistry & Biology faculties.  Though it was a co-educational institution in the beginning, but of late only Higher Secondary section is co-educational. In the era of digitization, Computer education has been compulsory for all the students of classes from V to XII & there is a separate laboratory with essential apparatus & up-dated computers for those students in order to get the pupils acquainted with proper & inevitable knowledges of digital era. Over 800 books on novels, short & long stories, essays, magazines & science fictions are in stock in a huge library & students are given facilities to collect the books of their desires in order to gather extra knowledge. The institution offers Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Political Science, Sanskrit, Education & Philosophy as elective subjects in Higher Secondary section. The institution has two gigantic playgrounds where the students under the supervision of Physical Education teacher play various games & do yoga to keep their body, mind & soul active, healthy & sound.
