History

It was the year 1969. Balurghat was not as flourished and well knitted as it is now. Especially during the era of Bangladesh liberation war, the influx of cross-border migration contributed a lot towards the expansion of slums at the outskirts of Balurghat town. As a result those belonging to the supportable family background could somehow able to fit themselves, but the future of the children belonging to the family of those poor slum dwellers and daily earners was coming under dark shadow. This drew the attention of a few educated youths and they planned to remedy that. Accordingly Niharendu Roy, Sishir Chatterjee, Subhas Chandra Saha, Dilip Rahut, Swapan Singh, Mihir Kumar Sarkar, Sibupada Das and so on under the careful guidance of Dilip Dhar, the pioneer of Balurghat who later became the founder of the school too, planned to organise a school to accommodate the children of those downtrodden people nearer to their temporary shelter in order to guide them in the right path of the society.
