Among the founders of the school, the names specially mentionable are those of Late Panchanan Majumder, Late Kali Prasanna Saha, Late Khan Bahadur Kader Bux and Late Lalbehari Majumder. Through their untiring efforts the school rose first to the status of a middle school, then to that of a high school in 1917. It was recognised as a high school by the Calcutta University in 1919 and its elevation to the higher secondary status came in 1959. The first batch of matriculation came out in 1921. Late Mukundalal Das donated Rs.500/- in the name of his mother, Smt. Akrurmoni Das after whose name the school was christened " Akrurmoni Middle Englsih School. "  The appendage Coronation entered into the appellation of the school with some money that came from the Coronation Fund of the then British Ruller. Since then, the school has been known as " AKRURMONI CORONATION INSTITUTION ."  A gift of Rs.13,000/- was received from Late Sarat Chandra Ray Choudhury of Chanchal, and smaller donations were received from many other benevolent gentlemen. The school will ever remain indebted to them all. A small school building was constructed with the financial help received time to time from the Govt. The school came under the Grant- In - Aids scheme in 1921. The school was constructed at the cost of Rs. 30,000/- on its present site consisting of six bighas of land. Over the years with the leadership changing hands with each Head Teacher, the school made its progress upto the higher secondary level via secondary stage.
