History

Kurunnarun Panchayet  of Burwan circle of Murshidabad consists of several number of Janapadas such as Mandra, Mansara,Bhastore, Fatechandpur, Kurunnarun, Rajhat, Kogram ,Chaitpur  etc…The River Mayurakshi  flows in its own sweet will to the North. It was in the sixties. The influence of modern lifestyle still did not lay its foot step in the terminal villages of the district. The bucolic paths used to become slippery and muddy in the rain and grayish by dust in other seasons. Yet some boys and girls traversed the perilous roads for acquiring some knowledge of learning. But in rainy season Mayurakshi river used to become furious with full of water to the brim. So maximum boys and girls had to saunter everywhere by giving up their utmost desire of being enlightened by the halo of education .Seeing the circumstances , a gentleman ,named Sudhir Roy, a generous post master, thought-“Is it not possible to construct a School in our village?” This brainchild idea of him  soon spread the villages nearby. Many persons of his village such as Shaktipada Roy, Sagarnarayan Pal, Gadadhar Roy soon came to assist him. Besides Monoranjan Dutta and Shanti Dutta of Mansara village, Dayamoy Ghosh of Margram, Bharot Ghosh of Fatechandpur, Gourgopal Choudhuri of Kurunnarun village and many others also came and helped in the construction of school directly or indirectly.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Some generous persons such as Sudhir Roy, Shaktipada Roy, Adhir Roy, Gadadhar Roy, Badyanath Roy,Brindaban Roy, Banshibadan Roy,Dharanidhar Pal,  Harihar Roy came generously to donate land for school.The seed of education which was planted in the donated land has become a large tree full of branches today.                           

But the man was Sudhir babu’s nephew- the Headmaster of Beluti High School Brindaban Chandra Roy who enriched the foundation by giving all important ideas, making the papers,donating for the construction of the school building. With the help of his valuable idea and heartfelt contribution, the foundation of the school became more concreted.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               According to the plan the school started on 17th November in 1968at the meeting room of Sudhirbabu. Sudhirbabu became the secretary of the newly founded managing committee. Many people such as Satyahari Pal. Nimai Chandra De,Jagannath GHosh, Aniruddha Ghosh , Sadananda Mondal came to participate as teacher to lit the lampof education in the mind of the students. Kamakshya Charan Roy was appointed as the clerk and Dhirendranath Hazra and Saraswati Bholla were appointed as the other non academic staff.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Latter the School began its journey on 2nd january in 1969 with the name of "Mandra Ashwini Kumar Junior High School". On ist January, 1971 the School became govt.recognition, enlisted with the memo. no. 681Jr. There after the was upgraded to the standard of class X on 01-01-1979 with the enthusiastic dedication and rigorous endeavour of the then headmaster, Mr. Sadananda Mondal.At present the School is of higher Secondary standard with both science and arts streams running hand in hand since 2010.
