“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” –Nelson Mandela

Gobindapur Rajnagar High School was established on 01.01.1965 to provide secondary education to the students of the locality. The remote villages of Beharia Gram Panchayat were detached from outer world due to non availability of roads. People of this locality were illiterate and farmer. There are five primary schools in the 9 villages of Beharia Gram Panchayat but there was no ‘High School’ for those students. Moreover, the distance of nearest high schools were 8-10K.M from here. So, only some rich families could afford to send their child outside the village to take higher education. This situation was realized by some intellectuals and education interested persons of the locality. They organized many meetings and finally in the month of October, 1964 the decision was taken to build a high school in the locality. With 245 decimal lands and donation of Rs.-3700.00 the initial construction of the school was started. Finally the school was started on 2nd January, 1965 with 74 students.

The school got first affiliation from W.B.B.S.E as 2 Class Jr. High School named as “Pragatishil Adarsha Vidyaniketan” w.e.f 01.01.1965.Then the school promoted into 4 Class Jr. High School named as "Rajnagar Pragatishil Adarsha Vidyaniketan (Jr. High)"  w.e.f 01.01.1971.The school got affiliation from W.B.B.S.E for 'Madhyamik School (Class-IX & X)' as "Rajnagar Pragatishil Adarsha Vidyaniketan (High)" w.e.f 01.01.1986. The school upgraded into higher secondary school in 2009 with affiliation from W.B.C.H.S.E. The name of the school was changed as "Gobindapur Rajnagar High School" in 1998 by Order of W.B.B.S.E.
