History

             It was not very easy to think of a school in the remote village of Murshidabad district in the early decades of twentieth century, but the education-loving people of Gurah and Pashla made it possible with their tireless efforts. They tried to establish secondary school in their village with little resources and the landlords contributed lots to fulfil their goal. The school was started in some private buildings in 1925 under Education Council as Middle English school up to class six. A school building was built beside a dighi(bigpond) in the village of Gurah. The students had to go to Lohapur or Mollarpur in the district of Birbhum to appear in the School Final Examination. In the year 1948, the Roychowdhury family of Gurah donated the required land for the school and the necessary fund was provided by Konger family of Pashla.  A new school building was started in a beautiful solitary location in the lap of nature, far away from the bustles and noise of the resident,    between the village of Gurah and Pashla. The school was named as "GurahPashla S K Sikshaniketan" with the full satisfaction of the people of the two villages. .The University Of Calcutta recognized "Gurah Pashla S K Sikshaniketan” as School Final School in 1949, which became a popular and renowned educational institution in surrounding areas.The school earned a huge reputation and excellence in the district as well as in the state.   That's why   students from remote areas of Murshidabad and Birbhum used to come and stay in school-hostel and learn here.

                 Later, this institution was upgraded as Higher Secondary school upto class XI with Arts, Science and Commerce streams in 1965. In 1974, the school became Madhyamik (Class-X) and Higher Secondary (Class-XII) under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education subsequently. Presently, it is "GURAH PASHLA SRIPATI KONGER SIKSHANIKETAN "where students can learn different subjects in higher secondary level and they may become skilled youths in various trades and crafts from Vocational Stream of the school  which may help them  earn their livelihoods in future life. The students also enjoy NSS activities from the NSS unit which is committed to make the students socially responsible citizens. They carry on the NSS activities in the lush green environment under the guidance of their eminent teachers.The institution are also glorified by its exstudents from different corners of globe.
