History

Katlamari Anglo vernacular school was established possibly in 1865. Rani Swarnamayee of Cossimbazar was the Zamidar of Katlamari- Mohangunj then. The then Katlamari was a typical trade center bearing both indigo and silk kuthis. Later the silk kuthi even turned into a medium sized filature. On the other bank of river Padma there was Rampur Boalia or Rajshahi,the place Rabindranath visited again and again. Sri Bhudeb Mukherjee,the then School Inspector of this division,once informally visited the school and being surprised opined "A blooming lotus from cowdung."Due to the enormous soil erosion caused by the inundating Padma,the school were devastated twice. Finally it was relocated in it's present position.Gradually in 1946 it was turned into a secondary school first.Later it was upgraded to a higher secondary institution.
