  Pandit Iswar chandra Vidyasagar came to Kandi for inagurating a large theatre hall . He requested the then Rajas of Kandi Rajparivar to transform it to a School.Raja Pratap Chandra Sinha and his brother Raja Iswar Chandra Sinha of Kandi Rajparivar & also the Raja of Paikpara,Kolkata established the school on 01/04/1859. Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar selected teachers for the school at the initial stages.He gave valuable advices for smooth running of this institution for first three to four years of establishment. Acharya Ramendra Sundar Trivedy and Mahamohopadhyay Haraprasad Shastri were the notable distinguised Alumni of this seminary. Many eminent persons like Tarasankar Bandyopadhyay, Prof. Satyendranath Bose came to this school in various occations of the school.
