HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Name of School- BARAH SRI GOURANGA VIDYALAY.

Shri BARID BARAN GHOSH with some friends started the school at his residence with few students of class V only in the late fifties. To start class VI it moved to the nearby boy`s Club`s premises. To start classes VI & VII , school moved to its present location outside the village.

School got Govt. RECOGNITION for classes V & VI in 1961 and as a junior high school in 1964. 

The school was running with financial difficulties,many class rooms had no windows,doors and sufficient no. of benches for the students, etc.

Late Shri JITANDRALAL GHOSH took complete /full charge of the school in1968 as the Headmaster and worked relentlessly to improve each an every short commings in th school till his retirement in 2000.Mr. Ghosh`s unforgettable sacrifice and dedication of his life for the school`s welbeing is well appreciated and recognised by local communities as wel as by the present  MANAGEMENT  COMMITTEE [Govt. Sponsored].

In the early years , till govt.recognition as a high school, the co-operation, contribution and sacrifice of all ex-teachers and great help with cotributions from founder`s friends and relatives is to be appreciated as well.

At Mr. Ghosh`s appeal, Shri Radhakanta Hazra actively participated and helped financially for additional class rooms,drinking water facility,toilet for girls,benches for students,chairs for teachers,almirah,office equipments. Mr. Hazra also encouraged for the  promotion of social and extra curricular activities.

THE SCHOOL WAS RECOGNISED AS A HIGH SCHOOL IN 1982.
