History

The school begun its journey in the pre - independence period with the help of the local people who thought that only education can change the society. Though not clearly mentioned, the foundation stone assumed to be laid in the year 1924. In the backdrop of British rule, it was really a path breaking initiative on the part of the founder members. In the begining, the school started in a muddy hut with some honorary teachers who gave their voluntary service to uplift the thinking of people. Gradually, in the post- independence era, the school got affilliated as a junior high school on 1954 and upgraded  on 1968 as class X school.

 The vetaran teachers gave their best to make this school renowned one. The alumnus of this school have established themselves in different responsible post under Govt. of India and also under state Government. In the year 2000, it became upgraded as H.S school with only humanities section. From then on, the wheels are moving in a rhythmic pace. It has its vocational training centre with trailoring as a trade. Acharya J.C Bose Eco-club greets you with a lash green flower garden just at the entrance not only in academics, the school has now become a centre of cultural activities with so many feathers at its crown.The trophies in the display just show the quantities of the students. The ICT computer lab take a great initiative the enrich the students knowledge about computer. In short, Derpur High School is truly a mingling of the old tradition and modern culture.
