History

A brief history of the school

Margram High School is a Govt-aided school run by the Managing Committee and came under salary deficit scheme in 1972. The establishment of Margram High School dates back to 1882 when a few local enthusiasts, persons interested in education dreamt of establishing a school to impart formal education.

Their dreams came to reality as they put all out effort towards it. Otherwise education for natives was unthinkable, unimaginable thing in the pre-independent India. Its old building in the northern side of the school campus where HM’s room is situated was constructed first with a few rooms and classes started as a junior school. Some local people donated land and also extended monetary help too to cherish their dreams. In 1966 the school was accorded as a 10 class school by the WBBSE and was upgraded to H.S. level school in 1999 by the WBCHSE. Help from SSA, MLA, MPLAD grant and school development grant from students & Govt grant help the school come to its present form. The school has now Multigym, CCTV (both office and classrooms), Biometric attendance for all staff, Rain Water harvesting project, Sanitary Napkin vending machine, Science Laboratory, ICT Lab facility for students, flower garden for beautification purpose, pure cold drinking water etc. The school was declared as a ‘Nirmal Vidyalay’ by District administration, Birbhum in 2015.

Over the years, leadership has changed hands with each Headmaster/TIC & Secretary leaving his/her indelible imprints of achievement on the school. Their revolutionary ideas changed Margram High School’s academic outlook as the school made a firm move forward to become one of the outstanding schools in all aspects in the sub-division.
