History

            Kanakpur High School is a Government Sponsored Secondery School situated beside the road from Murarai to Damdama near Aparajita Maa temple at Kanakpur of district Birbhum. It was established in 1954 by the effort of some persons interested in education in this village.

         It has about 1600 sq. ft. area which was doneted by some people of the village. It is the oldest school in Dumurgram G.P. It was first recognised as 2- class Junior High School by the D.I. of Schools, Birbhum vide memo no. 1318/G dt. 09.07.1955 w.er.f. 01.01.1955. It was upgraded to a 4 class Junior High School by the W.B.B.S.E. vide memo no. 5748/G dt. 22.04.1965 w.e.f. 01.01.1964. It was upgraded to X class High School by the W.B.B.S.E. vide memo no. S/272 dt. 18.04.1980 w.e.f. 01.01.1979. The school has brought been under salary deficit scheme w.e.f. 01.01.1979 as per Government order no. 2684 Edu(s) dt. 21.12.1978.
