History
Rampurhat J.L Vidyabhaban was established on 15th Feb,1955. The founder Secretary Late Benoy Kumar Banerjee, Late Shashanka Shekhar Mondal, Ex M.L.A, Rampurhat and Late Debabrata Banerjee ,(Ex – teacher of this school), son of Late Prof. Jitendralal Banerjee (popularly known as Prof. J.L Banerjee) took initiation of necessary steps to establish our School and to dedicate the same in the hollowed name of name Late Prof. J. L. Banerjee (great Educationalist).
At the time there was only one boys High School, Rampurhat High School in the Rampurhat town. Suitable Land for the School was first donated by “Sadhan Brahma Samaj” (Calcutta)Late Amiya Kumar Sen, Ex- Principal of City College, Calcutta, an influential member of “Sadhan Brahma Samaj” and friend of Late Prof. J. L Banerjee helped a lot in this member.
At that time, the then D.M. Birbhum issued notification of acquisition for the same Land for Indian port and Telegraph Department. But the then S.D.O. Rampurhat Mr. Shyam Sundar Dutta, took initiation and rescued the same Land from D.M Birbhum in favour of our school.
After gettting the land the step for opening the School started.Rampurhat High School authority donated tiled building and opening of this schol declared on 15th Feb,1955 The School started with scanty number of students and a few dedicated Teachers (Educationalist)practically with no Salary.
Late Benoy kumar Banerjee and Shashanka Shekhar Mondal (Ex - M.L.A.) approached late gopikabilas Sen, the then Deputy Minister and Devotee of Late Prof. J. L. Banerjeeand with his heartful help the school got Recognition of W.B. Board of Secondary Education from 01-01-1957.
After getting recognition, the then Managing Committee, Teaching and non-teaching staff tried their best to increase the Roll Strength and infrastructure of the school.
Introduction of old H.S. (Class XI) and (10+2) were made by W.B.B.S.E and W.B Council of H.S. Education. Then Introduction of Co-Education in H.S section was made as per demand of the locality. Three Stream, Arts, Science and Commerce were introduced for the betterment of the students.
The School started with twenty (20) students and at present the Roll Strength is approx. three thousand (3000).
Academic atmosphere was more developed by the leadership of the then Headmaster, Late Purusottam Ghosh and it was flourished by the leadership of Ex - Headmaster, Gour Chandan Ghosh both in Academic and infra-structure Developments.
In the year 2008 four students stood 2nd,3rd,7th and 8th in the Madhyamik Examinition in the State. starting from 2008 students of this school scored points within top ten in the State In Madhyamik and H.S Examinations Every year.
Our school was honoured with vidyalaya ratna Award in 2015 on Teachers' Day as the best school of the Birbhum District. The awaed and certificate of honour were received by the Ex- H.M, Mr. Gour Chandan Ghosh from the honourable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata.
Our School will be able to carry on into glamour in all respect under the leadership of the Headmaster, learned teaching staff and heartful Co-operation of Govt.sponsored Managing Committee.
