History

Lakhuria High School(H.S) is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in West Bengal. According to the Information &Cultural Department of WB GOVT,the school ranks 4th position as its date of birth in Nadia. 

It was middle of the 19th century when a keen educationist Ambikacharan RoyChowdhury  from RoyChowdhury Zamindar  family of Kaliganj started an English school with few students at his own responsibility and financial support. Afterward it grew bit by bit with the strong support of the descendants of RoyChowdhury family. The history of the school for a long period has been missing. When it was rediscovered in 1946, it was a middle English school up to class VI.Later it was upgraded  into High school and Higher Secondary school .The school  developed slowly in the hands of efficient and skilled Headmasters. 

It is still carrying  the flame eith same zeal as it started with to impart knowledge to the students coming within and beyond the boundaries of Nadia District. The school  has changed itself according to the changing times of post Independent period into modern education institution.
