A few words on S.M Nasir Smriti High School. 

S.M Nasir Smriti High School is a W.B Government Sponsored  Bengali Medium Co-educational Institution situated at Gobindapur, a village between Panighata and Plassey Rail-station under Kaliganj block of Nadia district. It was established in the year-2000 with an aim at spreading the light of education more & more among the people of underprivileged villages-Gobindapur, Hatgobindapur, Bharatpur, Jamalpur, Mirzapur, Bathangachhi, Dhwapara & Radhakantapur where most of the people belong to Backward classes. At the very end of last century i.e Twenty century, it was started with some students in an additional classroom of Govindapur Primary School under the guidance of some education-interested persons living here and later, it was shifted to a new building erected on a Ten cattah donated land near the Railway. All the villagers actively co-operated in shaping this school by donating land, cash, brick & other building materials. As a result of their tireless effort, the school got it’s first recognition in 2000. The school started to flourish rapidly with the formal recognition of Junior High School in 2002 & WBSSC appointments. Later, it was upgraded to a High School in 2005 and HS School in 2009 respectively. More additional classrooms were built and more additional teachers were appointed under Sarva Siksha Prakalpa in the recent years.  Presently the school is running smoothly with more than 2000 students & 40 teachers. It has vocational unit of 8+ & 10+(since 2007) along with general stream of science & arts in HS section with the diversity  of different subject-combinations. It has huge three- storeyed separate building of vocational & general unit with a long smart classroom & adequate modern labs and a vast open place of playground surrounded with an eye-soothing green vegetation of Sagoons (teaks) behind the main building. With the financial assistance of all well-wishers, the school campus was expanded with 23 bigha- land & in 2010 the school extended it’s helping hand by donating 15 bigha-land for the establishment of a Polytechnic College named Mirmodan Mohanlal Govt. Polytechnic College. These two educational institutions have been playing a vital role in the overall social development of this locality and the villagers are proud of it. Both the teachers and the students of this school are very much co-operative in maintaining the school atmosphere ideal with the virtues of discipline, dedication, altruism, sincerity, punctuality, loyalty, honesty and above all mutual credibility. Many young, enthusiastic & scholarly Teachers are here to provide Educational and Vocational support to the first-generation learners with spontaneous agility. Here the students show not only educational excellence in MP & HS examination  but also co-curricular excellence in higher level and teachers are proud of them.
