History

In 1964, Most Rev. L.R. Morrow, Late Bishop of Krishnagar, Nadia Dt. West Bengal, founded Chapra Mary Immaculate High School (HS) for the education of local children.  Initially, it was a Primary School run by the Sisters of Mary Immaculate catering co-education.

In 1973, it was raised to Secondary School in order to meet the public demand and promoted education to girls at the High School level. The HIgh School section, V to X is recognized by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and is aided by the Government.  In 2005, the school was further riased to higher secondary level.

Students, irrespective of cast and creed attend the school.  Most of the students come from poor and illiterate families. In the past , many students were financially assisted by various projects.  As a result there was a steady progress in education.  Moral Science and other value education classes are included in the School curriculum to achieve the goal and aim of the school - that is to impart sound education to the students by forming in them the habit of virtue, discipline and self effeciency to become responsible and dutiful citizen of our Motherland, India.

Chapra Mary Immaculate High School (HS) is a caring community where education is child-centered and activity based, catering for all round development of the child: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  There is good rapport among the staff and students and full hearted support from the teachers which are essential for the proper education and better administration.  The school is proud to have several of its students doctors, teachers, nurses and social workers serving the people and scoiety.  It offers ample opportunites to the furture generation to progress in life with dedication and determination to be of service to God's people and good citizens of the country.
