The glorious past of Shimulia High School (H.S.) begins its journey with the help of some active social reformers of Shimulia and neighbouring villages. In this respect, we can recall the names of Sri Jyotish Chandra Roy, Sri Nibaran Chakraborty, Dr. Dinmohammad Mondal, Sri Birendra Nath Sarkar, Sri Haran Chandra Pramanick, Sri Jugal Kishore Ghosh, Abdul Aziz Mondal, Ajgar Ali Biswas, Md. Daud Furui Mondal, Warish Biswas and so on. The tired less effort of this of this renowned persons resulted in the foundation of Ramratan Primary School, which was situated on the 4 acre land donated by Sri Ramratan Singha Roy by the side of the river Palda in 1917. In 1919 this primary school was transformed into an M.E. School with the help of the aforesaid great persons. At that time, the economic condition was not in favour. For the sake of the improvement of the economic balance, it was decided to carry on a ‘hat’ on every Sunday and the sum getting from its rent carried the expenses of the School. The renowned persons who glorified the chair of the Headmaster were Sri Mondal, Sri Harshabardhan Sarkar and Sri Gour Chandra Ghosh etc. In 1928 the School of tiles leaving the fencing wall and thatch roof. The need of more classrooms was increasing with the increasing number of students. In 1957, this M.E. School became a 2-class Junior High School and in 1958 it had got the look of 4-class Junior High School. By the course of time, this school had got the opportunity to be a Secondary School in 1965 with the help of some local social workers and the Government. At that time, the H.M. of this School was Sir Amulyo Biswas and the next H.M. was Sri Sunil Kanti Ghosh and the members of the Managing Committee were Sri Hazarilal Ghosh, Sri Birendra nath Sarkar. The number of students as well as classrooms and teachers were increasing in an unrestricted manner. After the retirement of the then H.M. Sri Sunil Kanti Ghosh on the 31st December 1997 there prevailed an acute indiscipline condition in the then A.H.M. Sri Mrityunjoy Ghosh became the T.I.C. in 1999 and he remain in that very post till 4th July, 2002. According to Govt. rules and regulations, this school has got its next H.M. Sri Jyotirmoy Ghosh. At present, the perfect co-operation of all the teachers and teaching staffs glorify the present standard of the school. In the academic year 2004-2005 this secondary school had achieved the status of a Higher Secondary School. In the academic year 2007-08 the Vocational Course was introduced to this school. Today we can feel pride in the advancement of the school. I as well as all the villagers give thanks to the present H.M. and to all the teachers for their effortless service. It is also noteworthy that the present play ground of the students has become their own with the help of some kindhearted local people, the H.M. Sri Jyotirmoy Ghosh and the Secretary of the M.C. Sri Sudhangshu Kumar Ghosh. I hope that this school will be able to enlighten the whole village as well as the whole neighbourhood with the light of literacy.
