 Welcome to Subhabini Girls’ High School (H.S)

Shikarpur in 1960 was, well, a quite different locality. The Independence of the country was only thirteen years old. India was practically reborn and so were its localities. Community of this area was waiting for an educational institution where learning and growing up would happen in a happy and innovative environment. A new nest that would teach their little ones to fly on confident wings.

Subhabini Girls’ High School, a Bengali-medium School, opening its gates in 1960, was an answer to the community’s prayers.

It captured the popular imagination since the moment of its foundation with recognized as Junior High School with seventy four students w.e.f. 01.04.1960 vide memo no : 1945/sc/s date:08.02.1961. And, the initial faculty was an enviable collection of stalwarts from the cultural and literary and headed with Gita Adikary. The School was approved as Girls’ High School vide no:974/SE(s), Dt 26.05.2000 and Higher Secondary General Stream Course started w.e.f 2009-2010.

The journey, taken since 1960, has been a magical one, marked by splendid milestones. The comely some rooms soon grew into newer, bigger buildings so that it could bring more and more children into its fold.

Every day begins in Subhabini Girls’ High School with bolder strides towards and, now, its campuses are an even happier and more secure zone .A splendid milestone in post-Independent in this Locality – that’s what Subhabini Girls High School has been. And will be, taking on new challenges and fulfilling newer expectations.
