HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL
Nandanpur Adarsha Vidyapith is situated by the side of Krishnanagar-Karimpur Road in Karimpur Block-II in District Nadia. At the time of undivided India as well as Bengal some boys of Nandanpur area had to go to either Jamsherpur B.N. High School or Narayanpur M.E. School for study. These schools are 12 miles and 7 miles away from Nandanpur respectively. Most of the girls had no opportunity to read in high school because of inaccessibility and inadequacy of means of transportation. Nandanpur Adarsha Vidyapith was established as II-class Junior High School in 1956 by the endeavour and leadership of Bimal Chandra Byas along with such persons interested in education as Nitya Gopal Mondal, Jyotirmoy Dey, Khudiram Biswas, Arun Kumar Sinharoy, Kanailal Das Bairagya, Abdul Gani Biswas, Swarna Kamal Biswas, Surya Mondal, Nirmal Chandra Byas, Uddharini Debya, Tarun Sinharoy and others. Tarak Das Bandyopadhyay, the then Chairman of the District Board, lent official help in the establishment of the school. In 1956 the construction of a bridge between Nandanpur and Kanthalia on the Krishnanagar-Karimpur Road was going on. The construction-workers lived temporarily in a straw-thatched hut in the place where this school is presently situated. After the completion of the bridge, the abandoned straw-thatched hut came to be used as the initial shelter for the 2-class Junior High School. Three volunteer teachers, namely, Shibnarayan Adhikary, Nisith Kumar Biswas and Basudeb Ghosh were appointed. In 1960 the school was approved as 2-class Junior High School by the Government of West Bengal. Subal Chandra Dutta was appointed in the post of Headmaster. Shyamalendu Adhikari was appointed in the post of Assistant Teacher in 1961, and as the Headmaster in 1962. Prafulla Kumar Bhowmick was appointed as Assistant Teacher in 1962, and as Assistant Headmaster in 1971. The school was upgraded as a 4-class Junior High School in 1964. The school was approved as a High School in 1966, and as a Higher Secondary School in 1987.
