History

Gonsaidas Paul Academy (H.S.) was founded on 3rd February, 1969 at Joykrishnapur with a view to spread education among the boys and girls of the financially downtrodden families of the locality. This institution provides education for many first generation learners since its inception. Despite poverty and immense difficulties, local people were keen on enkindling the light of education for next generation. The dream came true, when Gouranga Chandra Paul, founder Secretary of the school, Gopal Chandra Biswas, founder Headmaster, Gangadhar Ghosh, one of the founder teachers and other local personalities came forward to establish the school as a mark of genuine love for education and social service. Gouranga Chandra Paul donated the land and the school was named after his father.

Gonsaidas Paul Academy got recognition of Junior High School (upto class VIII) in 1971 and upgraded to Madhyamik School in 1996. It was approved as a Higher Secondary School in 2012.
