History

During partition of India in 1947, a group of uprooted people from Himayat Pur,Pabna (then in East Pakistan now in Bangladesh) came over to this land of forest and after deforestation named it Saktinagar and settled here permanently under the leadership of Shakti Mandir, an organisation formed by some dedicated freedom fighters and disciples of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Later on feeling the demand of education of the locality they founded saktinagar High School in the 2nd February 1949, with an inauguration by the eminent educationist and a great fighter Shyama Prasad Mukhapadhyay for the cause of hopeless Bengalis of Bengal. The school is encircled by a number of primary,,secondary and Higher Secondary Schools making good School complex now and is situated in the lap of Anjana, the river with which memories of many great personalities including Michael Madhusudan Dutta, Rabindranath Tagore,Ram Tanu Lahiri and others remain. Again with its natural beauties and a big open stadium in the front makes it unique in the area .A grand good library , well equipped Laboratory and open air stage along with dedicated staff, well organized management etc. provide the students a sound base in education. The school is adjacent to the Krishnanagar city railway station ,Nadia district hospital ,post office etc. By this time it has passed and celebrated its silver and golden jubilee year with proper dignity. Now it is preparing for the celebration of its Platinum Jubilee with the help of the strong alumni Association. Having started with a few rooms and a handful of students, Saktinagar High School has come a long way in course of time as the number of its successful alumni in the country and worldwide is ever on the rise.The school humbly celebrates the glory that the students have achieved in myriad fields- be it academic, creative or contemplative; it urges to carry the legacy forward in times to come.
