AMDANGA HIGH SCHOOL(H.S)                                                                                             Head master's Desk:  A group of persons interested in education dreamt of an school in Amdanga which came into being on January 24, 1972 with only 65 students. Initially classes were held in Amdanga free primary school. The founder Late Abdur Rahim Laskar donated 22 satak of land beside N.H 34 where the school was set up. The founder members and the teachers collected building materials like bamboo, wood, tiles and cash from the adjoining villages. The BDO of Amdanga then and Amdanga Health Centre Authority also helped a lot and four to five bamboo fenced, tile roofed rooms were erected. The school was then shifted there.

After few years the foundation of the present building was laid and some brick walled rooms were constructed. The engineers of famous BUD Company not only made the plan but also supplied some building materials.

From the very beginning the institution earned fame in the locality due to whole hearted dedication of the founder teachers. The school was first recognized as a Junior High School w.e.f 01/01/1979. As the number of students grew up it was upgraded to High School w.e.f 01/05/1996 and to Higher Secondary (Arts stream) w.e.f 01/07/2002.The school is now one of the quality learning centre of the locality.

The school authority felt the necessity of a play ground and was looking for a suitable plot. A plot was selected at mouza Amdanga and an agreement was made with its owner, Sri Karuna Chandra Samanta. But we have no fund to purchase it. Meanwhile NHAI notified that almost half of present school building will be acquired for expansion of NH-34. The existence of the institution fell in danger. Finding no way out we decided to shift the school to the selected plot as there was no vacant space for additional construction either vertically or horizontally. We somehow managed to buy 17 satak of land and the foundation of the new building was laid on 15/07/2014 with a grant of Rs 25 lakh    from honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Miss. Mamata Banerjee. The school has already purchased 92.5 satak of land, built five rooms and another five rooms are under construction. The connecting 12 feet wide road has been developed with Rs 2 lakhs from BEUP of Mr Rafikur Rahman, MLA, Amdanga.

We have a lot of works to do to shift the school and we are leaving no stone unturned for the same .We also want to open Science Stream in Higher Secondary Section in near future.
