History

SANTINIKETAN INSTITUTION is a Higher Secondary School of a remote village, Kalijuga of Deganga Block. It was established in 1970 with a dream to educate the underprivileged mass of lower Deganga. Feeling the need of an educational institution Hiralal Banerjee and his brother Nirendralal Banerjee, headmaster of Kalijuga Primary School, Dhirendranath Ghosh, Tarak Chandra Ghosh,Hazarilal Ghosh, Gouranga Ghosh, Ananta Kumar Ghosh, Jitendranath Ghosh,Ratikanta Ghosh, Bistupada Ghosh, Kalipada ghosh ,Panchanan Ghosh, Haran Chandra Ghosh, Dulal Chandra Ghosh, Binoy Kumar Karmakar and many enthusiasts established a Junior High School at Kalijuga village. The school was upgraded to secondary school status in 2000. Dulal Chandra Ghosh was the first Head Master when the school got first recognition. He and the M C members developed the school a lot. They bought new land, bulit new building with the help of Sarva Siksha Mission. The school was upgraded to H S school in 2013.
