History

      In the year 1962, some education enthusiasts and socially conscious people of Guma, North 24 Parganas took the initiative to set up a school for the expansion of education. At the imition of Dr. Saroj Mohan Mitra, people of different casts and religions of the society came on 20th January, 2061 to discuss the establishment of the school. Notable personalities among them whose contribution is undeniable are Sri Baidyanath Mitra, Sri Haripada Das, Md. Rahim Box Mandal, Sri Subodh Kumar Sarkar, Sk. Ajdel Haque, Kazi Abdul Gaffar, Dr. Ajit Kumar Das, Abdul Wahed Sahaji, and many other eminent personalities.  Sk. Golam Sattar, Sk. Golam Kuddus, Sk. Golam Samsher, Binapani Biswas and Abul Gani Sahaji selflessly donated land to establish the school. The work of building the school began. People from different walks of life extended their helping hand to fulfill this great purpose. The first classes started on 2nd January, 1962 in a small hut. On 17th January, 1963 Guma Rabindra Vidyapith got official recognition up to class Eight level. But the progress of this school did not stop here. Gradually the school was recognized up to Secondary level (Class X) on 1st January, 1966 and finally Higher Secondary level (X+2) on 19th August, 2005.

      Guma Rabindra Vidyapith continues to move forward with the dedicated efforts and active cooperation of the education loving people of this area.
