Gopalpur Popular Academy ( H . S ) was established in the year 1943 as a result of a sincere initiative taken by Late Narendra Kali Mitra a member of the renowned Mitra family of Gopalpur.Overcoming innumerable hurdles the school has now reached its apex . Over the years many renowned persons of the locality have co- operated by offering donetions for infrastructural devolopment of the institution. In the year 1998 the school was upgraded to a Higher Secondary School with the permission to introduce Arts, Science and Commerce Streams
