Baman Mura Kusum kumari Balika Vidyalaya was set up in 1949. But we must delve deep in the past to recall in gratitude the immense contributions of some great persons who made it possible. Years back in 1900, there was a single primary school for boys in the village Baman Mura. In 1915 , a girls' school was opened under the same roof.None of these two schools had government recognition till 1945. The great soul Baidyanathbabu who was associated with these two schools as a teacher worked whole heartedly for their development .He arranged various scholarships as incentive for the girls to disseminate among them the essence of learning. With the students gradually completing the primary education, the need of establishing a high school was deeply felt . The dream of his late mother , Smt. Kusum kumari Devi, of a high school in the locality was materialized with the laying of the foundation- stone of Baman mura Kusum Kumari English School on 17th April, 1949.The local club Jayasree Sangha was inseparably connected with the well -being of the school from the very beginning and Sri Amarbabu ,then president of the club, donated the land adjacent to the club for building construction. In the first phase, the school got government recognition in1949 for class l to class IV and subsequently for V & VI (1956), VIII (1962), X (1967). Finally in 2002, the school was upgraded from secondary to higher secondary level with courses of seven subjects in Humanities. All the female teachers who served the school from the very initial stage should be remembered for their untiring efforts in imparting education and bringing the local girls to school even by paying door to door visit when necessary. Here ,we are glad to mention that Smt. Tapati Bhattacharya passed the school Final Examination in 1974 in first division and was awarded the National Scholarship. Regarding teacher recruitment, since 1975 the pay structure of the teachers had been changed as the school went under the salary -scheme and the appointment of the teachers was started as per Govt. rule.Now in the middle of the 2020, we are proud to say that apart from academic activities ,Bamanmura Kusum Kumari Balika Vidyalaya has flourished enough with almost 1500 students who are now being benefited by various schemes of the State or Central Government like Midday Meal,Medicines ( folic acid), Kanyasree and Sabuj Sathi Prakalpa etc.
