
A few educationists and persons interested in education started the school in 1948. Initially teaching-learning began in the house of late Binoy Bhushan Ganguly.
As per admission register in the next year i.e 1949, 38 students were admitted. Finally on the 1st of September 1950 the school became recognized by the government of West Bengal. 83 students took admission in 1950 and finaly the no. of students reached 121.
In 1950 Sri Hiralal Gupta and Sri Kiran Bandhu Chattopadhyay donated two nights(66 decimals) of land for construction of a new school building. On 4 March that year Dr. Snehamoy Dutta, Director of School Education, laid the foundation stone of the new building.
Sri Jnanchandra Baral worked as Headmaster from 01.09.1950 to 11.01.1972. Sri Suchinta Kumar Bandopadhyay was the 2nd Headmaster. He worked in the post from 12.01.1972 to 31.03.1999. Smt. Ila Mitra (as TIC from 01.04.1999 to 06.03.2001), Sri Gopal Chandra Dey (as H.T from 07.03.2001 to 30.09.2009), Smt. Latika Roy (as TIC from 01.10.2009 to 28.02.2011) and Sri Sisirkumar Roy (as TIC from 01.03.2011 to 08.12.2011) led the school.
On 09.12.2011 Smt. Dipika Bala Biswas posted to this school as Headmistresss and has been continuing till today.
On 29 January 2014 an half bust of the Mahatma was installed in the school premises.
The pass out students of this primary school from class IV have been favoured to get direct admission to class V in Barasat Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School (HS) from 2012.
In 2013, Pre-primary class has been started in this school.
The school is considered as a target school in the district for cordial and proper education provided by the affectionate teachers.
Students of this school use make proud of the school by their remarkable results in Madhyamik, Higher secondary and Joint.
Sri Reetodyuti Roy ranked 15th in Madhyamik and Sri Sayan Mondal placed him in the 11th position in HS in 2020.
In this way the school conquered the hearts of the people.
